One Acre Fund

One Acre Fund serves more than one million smallholder farmers in East Africa, providing the inputs, financing and training needed to increase harvests and grow farmer incomes. We’ve been lenders to One Acre Fund since 2016, and in 2020 we expanded our partnership through a new facility designed to catalyse new debt financing to the organisation. Our new commitment of $3m to One Acre Fund is part of a broader $20m subdebt facility provided by a consortium of six lenders—by taking the riskier position in the capital stack, we as subordinated lenders are hoping to incentivise as much as $100m in new senior debt and lines of credit, proceeds from which One Acre Fund will utilise to purchase inputs to serve their steadily growing farmer base.
