Founded in 2015, Jaza Energy builds solar-powered energy hubs for installation in last-mile communities in Tanzania in order to provide affordable and quality energy distribution via rechargeable batteries. Jaza’s ‘JazaPack’ batteries power lights, mobile phones and small appliances in rural customers’ homes, and once the JazaPack runs out of charge, customers return to the Jaza hubs and exchange their battery pack for a fully charged unit. Jaza sets up solar-powered energy kiosks in remote, rural communities. Through its hubs, Jaza powers battery packs and rents this to customers in the village, allowing them to power lights, mobile phones and small appliances. Jaza provides customers with clean, reliable energy, and is more affordable than kerosene or grid connection.
